Malaysian Flight MH17 Air Crash


On July 17, 2014, a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane MH17 crashed in Ukraine, near Russian border. There were nearly 280 passengers and 15 crew members on board. Sources believe that the Plane has been hit by a missile when it was flying at an altitude of 33,000 feet. Ukrainian officials and pro-Russian rebels accuse each other of this incident.


Indeed this is very sad event. Sanity extends its condolences to families of people who have lost their lives in this tragic event. An unbiased immediate inquiry of this incident is demanded so actual mischiefs be trialed and given due punishment.

It is hard to infer reason why such cruel action has been taken by any source. The passengers and crew members were innocent and not a party in any conflict. The first action which many Airlines have taken after this missile strike is to avoid Airspaces of Ukraine which will definitely hurt Ukraine’s interest.
The area, in which debris of victim Plane is found, is under control of pro-Russian rebels which support this opinion that the missile has been hit by rebels. Alarming things for Sanity is how a rebel group can own such high precision Air Missiles? This is definitely a threat to World nations where non-State actors can have such lethal arsenal.

The policy to support non-State actors by big powers is big threat to World peace. In recent times this phenomenon is on rise, be it Taliban in Afghanistan, IS-IS in Iraq, Free Syrian Army in Syria or Ukrainian rebels. The purpose of these rebellions is to create Civil wars in host countries and eventually debilitate them to extent where Host countries either split in to small regions or could submit to any external military adventure.
But remember this policy of cultivating non State actors is like playing with fire. A name that instantly comes to mind is Usama Bin Laden. Usama was a tout of CIA and was catalyst in war against Soviat Union in Afghanistan. But till the war ended, Usama had gained such power that he was no longer in control of CIA and after that the wounds Usama gave to American Army and their citizens are all part of history.
Sanity demands with World power to respect every Nation’s opinion and avoid redrawing country borders on their mere wishes and interests.

Ball tempering v/s Spot fixing

In the ongoing South African Cricket team tour of Srilanka, South African pace bowler Vernon Philander has been fined 75 per cent of his match fee for tampering with the ball during the third day of the first test against Sri Lanka. Philander has accepted the ball tempering charge. Remember that this is 2nd time where South African team has been accused of ball tempering. Last time Faf du Plessis was abetted by Philander and fined for ball tampering during test series against Pakistan in October, 2013.
